Review:NHL 09 takes Hockey games to a whole new level with its Be a Pro mode.In BAP, you not only create a skater or goalie, you play as only that one player through his career. Most of the game is played like traditional games, but if your guy gets the puck the camera goes into 3rd person view as you skate with the puck[The Goalie is always in 3rd person view}.If your guy is off on a line change the camera switches to 1st person view as you watch the game from the bench, also if you take a penalty you view the game from the box.Depending on how well you play in your games you will earn xp[Like a rpg],the xp can be traded for skills that will improve your game. The coach chooses your line depending on your play, while the GM controls all the trades and captains. You have no control over this area of the game, though it is said that the PS2 version puts you in control of all of this.BAP is available online with up to 12 on the ice at once, this is a cool idea but it tends to be really laggy. At time when I am about to score but my guy freezes and the chance is missed. This can get kinda annoying at times,it is quite fun when you get it to work. For those of you who enjoy the old style of game play, all the traditional features are back.I rate this 9.5 because of the lag issues online.
